Position Description:

Performs specialized level of work related to leakage surveys.

Perform leakage surveys on pipelines including but not limited to:

Company distribution/transmission lines

Public buildings

Downtown buildings

Schools (public and private)

Highway and railroad crossings


Repaired and unrepaired gas leaks

Inspect, calibrate, maintain, and/or repair leakage survey tools and equipment.

Drive and maintain company vehicle.

Complete and/or update reports including but not limited to:

Gas leaks and work logs

Equipment maintenance reports

Mileage reports

Time sheets

Update and maintain Leak Survey maps and books

Meets with and coordinates work with the Railroad Commissioners (RRC)

Class changes

Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.

Employee may be required to perform additional duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

Experience performing leakage surveys.

Line Locating Duties- Location of lines using line locating tools, helping detect/find un-locatable lines.

Experience and training relative to:

Company and governmental operating/safety procedures

Basic customer service activities

Changing charts

Locating lines

Characteristics of natural gas

Experience in use, function, maintenance, and repair of leakage survey tools and equipment.

Experience with application of basic arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division (tested).

Experience calculating and/or classifying severity of gas leaks.

Experience in transmission and distribution pipeline system operations.

Experience and knowledge in basic computer functions and relevant software.

Experience in reading and interpreting maps, blueprints, plats, atlas pages, diagrams, dials, gauges, work logs, job orders, and applicable operation and repair manuals.

Demonstrated ability to read and write fluently in English.

Minimum Applicable driver's license

Lift or move objects weighing up to 10 pounds 3 5 times a day; up to 20 pounds 10 15 times a day.

Travel over uneven terrain including but not limited to:







Walk, stand, kneel/stoop, and drive for extended periods.

Push spud bar in ground and extract.

React immediately to emergency situations to prevent injury to self and others.

Smell odorant in natural gas.

Able to operate tools and equipment required.

Communicate and/or exchange information or instructions including use of company two way radio.

Visual abilities sufficient to perform job duties.
