## Job Summary
This position will supervise the implementation of a workforce development program pilot funded by a 3-year grant, as well as support entrepreneurship and economic development programs within the Community and Rural Development Extension program area. The incumbent in this position will be expected to organize and manage logistics for community-level meetings, facilitate dialogue and present economic data during meetings, analyze and apply economic and business data for localized decision-making, and engage in partnerships to deliver workforce development training. The incumbent will also support the Oklahoma Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) business advising network with data analysis. Familiarization with the Business Retention and Expansion program, GIS, federal and proprietary business data sets are desired.
Travel is required to the pilot region (in Oklahoma), as well as to regional and national meetings; some of the travel may require overnight stays. A travel budget is provided.
This is an exempt position (which indicates that the position is exempt from overtime pay, compensatory time, or personal time accrual). Regular office hours are 8:00-12:00 and 1:00-5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. According to OSU policy, a 40-hour work week is considered minimal for exempt staff and you are expected to work hours in excess of 40 hours per week when the work load requires additional hours (to include some early mornings, evenings and/or weekends).
## Position Qualifications
Bachelor's in Business, Agricultural Economics, Rural Sociology, or closely related field
Three (3) years' experience running a business or working at an organization that assists businesses, business owners or entrepreneurs, which includes the following particular skills is required:
*Working collaboratively across industries, communities, organizations or government agencies
* Communicating to large groups of people
* Facilitating groups of people to achieve a common goal or purpose
* Analyzing and applying data to make decisions
Lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds, 200 yards, monthly
Pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds, 10 yards, monthly
Valid Driver's License
Ability to demonstrate the following skills is required:
* Listen and communicate effectively using oral, written and/or nonverbal techniques.
* Foster a professional image of OCES by displaying a positive view of the organization both internally and externally; this includes, but is not limited to, exceptional customer service and client satisfaction, maintaining a professional appearance and interpersonal demeanor.
* Adapt well to changing priorities, situations, and day-to-day demands.
* Effectively manage time and resources, especially budgeting skills, managing multiple concurrent projects, and meeting deadlines.
* Commitment to the continuation of personal professional development.
* Build and maintain relationships and work effectively with clientele, advisory groups, volunteer leaders, and other professionals. This includes the maintenance of confidentiality.
* Competency and effective use of computing and computer-based communications technology including the Internet, Microsoft Office Suite especially Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
* Leadership in designing, promoting, presenting, and evaluating educational programs and the desire to program to reach diverse audiences.
Master's in Business, Agricultural Economics, Rural Sociology, or closely related field
* Five (5) years' experience running a business or working at an organization that assists businesses, business owners or entrepreneurs
* Experience in economic development
* Experience with advocacy at the local or state level
* Fluency in Spanish
